What SOS has done

Since its inception in 2018, SOS has been running bulk buy programs. Initially, these programs were managed in-house by our dedicated volunteers.

In 2023, we partnered with Geelong Sustainability to participate in their Electric Homes program

Geelong Sustainability Electric Homes Program

This program offers a variety of services, including:

• Solar PV

• Home batteries

• Heat pumps

• Split air conditioning

• Home energy audits

• EV chargers

• Insulation and draft proofing

Program Benefits

The Electric Homes program provides several advantages:

• Vendors are pre-vetted.

• Vendors are incentivised to maintain high standards to remain in the program.

• Vendors can offset travel costs with multiple orders, enabling them to serve remote areas like ours.

• The program expands annually with new products and services.

The program typically begins in September. You can visit the Electric Homes website at electrichomes.com.au anytime to see the list of vendors and contact them directly.

Additionally, the program raises charitable funds, which are usually allocated to support disadvantaged groups in the Geelong area.

Aus Energy Assesment

In 2025, we are trialing Aus Energy Assessment’s free home efficiency audits. Initially, this will be tested by SOS committee members. Once we are satisfied with the service, we plan to expand its availability to the broader community.
